Places I Visited in 2025
はじめに
2025年に行った場所のまとめ。
今年は9箇所しか巡っていないので一昨年、昨年とだんだん外出する機会が少なくなっている。ワークが充実していたということにしたいが、ただ私生活にメリハリが付いていなかっただけともいえる。
来年はもう少しいろんな場所を訪れたいと思う。

1. うきは（福岡）
年始に祖父母宅に帰省した際に立ち寄った場所である。商家が立ち並んでおり、非常にきれいな町並みだった。商家や武家屋敷といった町並みが好きな方にはおすすめ。
2. 坂井（福井）
いわゆる東尋坊である。急峻な崖になっており絶景。国の天然記念物ということもあり、多くの人が訪れていた。東尋坊までの道のりは観光地化しており、賑わっていた。
3. 福井（福井）
越前一乗谷。国内旅行していると史跡としてよく耳にする場所であったので一度行ってみたかった。周囲一帯が非常に丁寧にメンテナンスされており、景観と空気が非常に心地良かったのを記憶している。GWに訪れたがさほど混雑しておらず、気候も相まって春に訪れるのをおすすめする。
4. 熊本（熊本）
学会の帰りに熊本城に立ち寄った。おそらく地震以降初めて訪れた。現在工事中であり、城郭を囲むように大きな橋がかかっている。これはこれで、城を立体的に堪能できたので良い機会だった。
5. Albuquerque(New Mexico)
これも学会最終日に立ち寄った場所である。ケーブルカーに乗って山頂までの景色を楽しめるのだが、日本ではおそらく見られないような雄大な岩壁を見ることが出来た。山頂での景色も絶景だった。
6. 霧島（鹿児島）
温泉地でゆっくりしたいと思い2泊3日で妙見温泉に宿泊した。
室内に露天風呂が設置されており、窓から見る川景色に癒やされた。
パソコンがあるとつい触ってしまうので、なにも考えずに時間を過ごせて非常に良かった。霧島から帰ってきた後の生産性も不思議と高かったように思う。
たまのリフレッシュも大事だなと。
7. 青島（宮崎）
鬼の洗濯板と呼ばれる奇岩が有名である。写真のようにギザギザとした岩が延々と海岸に続いている。青島には熱帯植物が自生しており島内にある青島神社も他の神社とは違いどこか南国風である。観光客も適度に賑わっており、ほどよい観光スポット。
8. 飫肥（宮崎）
数年前からここに訪れたいと思っていた。↓の動画を見たのが直接のきっかけである。
動画の通り、街全体がとてもきれいに保全されている。来てよかったと思う。最近流行っている古民家をリノベーションしたホテルに宿泊したが、ここも良かった。
また星空が非常に綺麗で、大阪ましてや都内では見ることが出来ない空一面の星空には感動した。ぜひまた訪れたい場所である。
9. 掛川（静岡）
出張の帰り、新幹線を待つ間に立ち寄った。掛川城自体は復興天守であるが、周囲の文化財とセットで観光に力を入れている印象を受けた。気に入ったのは市指定有形文化財の竹の丸で1階の一部がカフェになっている。2階の部屋のつくりが非常に整っており、和モダン基調で美しかった。
おわりに
今年が終わる前に高野山に行こうと思ったのだがいろいろあり行けなかった。
来年こそは行こうと思う。価格が落ち着いていれば宿坊にも泊まってみたい。
Introduction
This is a roundup of places I visited in 2025.
I only visited 9 places this year, continuing the trend from the past two years—I’ve been going out less and less. I’d like to blame it on being busy with work, but really, my personal life just lacked variety.
Next year, I hope to visit more places.
Here’s last year’s article.
1. Ukiha (Fukuoka)
I stopped by here while visiting my grandparents for New Year’s. It’s lined with merchant houses and has a beautiful townscape. Recommended for anyone who enjoys the charm of merchant houses and samurai residences.
2. Sakai (Fukui)
This is Tojinbo. The sheer cliffs offer a spectacular view. As a national natural monument, it attracts many visitors. The approach to Tojinbo is quite touristy and bustling.
3. Fukui (Fukui)
Echizen Ichijodani. I’d often heard about this historic site while traveling around Japan, so I had wanted to visit. The entire area is meticulously maintained, and I remember the scenery and atmosphere being very pleasant. I visited during Golden Week, but it wasn’t too crowded. Combined with the nice weather, I recommend visiting in spring.
4. Kumamoto (Kumamoto)
I stopped by Kumamoto Castle on my way back from a conference. This was probably my first visit since the earthquake. The castle is currently under restoration, and a large walkway surrounds it. In its own way, this offered a unique three-dimensional view of the castle—a good experience.
5. Albuquerque (New Mexico)
I also visited here on the last day of a conference. You can take a cable car up and enjoy beautiful scenery along the way—including majestic rock walls you’d never see in Japan. The view from the summit was also spectacular.
6. Kirishima (Kagoshima)
I wanted to unwind at a hot spring resort, so I stayed at Myoken Onsen for two nights and three days. The room had its own outdoor bath, and the river view from the window was soothing.
I tend to end up working when my laptop is around, so it was great to spend time without thinking about anything. Strangely, my productivity was higher after returning from Kirishima. Sometimes you just need a refresh.
7. Aoshima (Miyazaki)
It’s famous for rock formations called “Oni no Sentakuita” (Devil’s Washboard). As you can see in the photo, jagged rocks stretch endlessly along the coast. Tropical plants grow naturally on Aoshima, and Aoshima Shrine on the island has a distinctly tropical feel compared to other shrines. There’s a pleasant number of tourists—a nice, moderately popular spot.
8. Obi (Miyazaki)
I had wanted to visit here for years. Watching this video was the direct inspiration:
Just as the video shows, the entire town is beautifully preserved. I’m glad I came. I stayed at a renovated traditional house hotel—a popular trend lately—and it was wonderful.
The night sky was also stunning—a sky full of stars, nothing like what you’d see in Osaka, let alone Tokyo. I was truly moved. I’d love to visit again.
9. Kakegawa (Shizuoka)
On my way back from a business trip, I stopped by while waiting for the Shinkansen. Kakegawa Castle itself is a reconstructed keep, but the city seems to actively promote it together with the surrounding cultural properties. My favorite was Takenomaru, a city-designated tangible cultural property. Part of the first floor is a café. The rooms on the second floor were beautifully designed with a modern Japanese aesthetic.
Closing
I had planned to visit Mount Koya before the year ended, but things came up and I couldn’t make it. Next year for sure. If prices settle down, I’d also like to stay at a shukubo (temple lodging).
